Town advisory boards to meet

The Paradise Town Advisory Board has scheduled its biweekly meeting for 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Paradise Recreation and Community Services Center, 4775 S. McLeod Drive.

The Winchester Town Advisory Board has scheduled its biweekly meeting for 6 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.

The Whitney Town Advisory Board has scheduled its biweekly meeting for 6 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Whitney Recreation Center, 5712 E. Missouri Ave.

The Sunrise Manor Town Advisory Board has scheduled its biweekly meeting for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Hollywood Recreation and Community Services Center, 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.

LOOK GOOD ... FEEL BETTER MEETING PLANNED FOR MONDAY

Cancer sufferers and survivors are invited to Look Good … Feel Better from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the Breast Center at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, 3006 S. Maryland Parkway, Suite 250. The free program aims to help those with the disease improve self-esteem.RSVP by calling 784-1947.

BLM TO HOST FEE-free DAYS

The Bureau of Land Management, in conjunction with other agencies within the Department of the Interior, will waive recreation-related fees for visitors to the National System of Public Lands on Saturday for National Public Lands Day and Nov. 11-13 for the Veterans Day holiday weekend.

These fee-free days also apply to areas managed within the BLM's National Landscape Conservation System. Other fees, such as overnight camping, cabin rentals and group day use, will remain in effect. For more information, visit blm.gov.

First Friday ownership changes hands

When First Friday resumes Oct. 7 after a summer hiatus, it will do so under new ownership. The new ownership group, First Friday Las Vegas LLC, includes Zappos.com executives Tony Hsieh, Fred Mossler and Steve Hill, along with downtown developer Andrew Donner and Joey Vanas.

First Friday founder Cindy Funkhouser and Whirlygig Inc. will consult on the event for the next two months to ensure a smooth transition.
