Teacher made 1st-grader sit on floor for weeks

A first-grader drew a picture on her school desk one day and was punished. How, you ask? The teacher removed the girl’s desk and told her she wouldn’t get it back until the second grade, USA Today reports.

And this was all following a list of punishments, including: a visit to the principal’s office, desk washing and revoked recess.

Following the incident, the girl spent four weeks on the floor before confronting her parents. She was too scared to tell them.

The teacher has been reprimanded and the child will attend a new school per her mother’s wishes.

“The mom has hired an attorney and filed a grievance with Spring Branch ISD,” USA Today wrote. “She says her daughter has been traumatized by the punishment and wants to make sure this doesn’t happen to any other child.”
