APPLICATIONS FOR CITY JUNIOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM DUE APRIL 10

The city of Henderson is set to accept applications for its Teens-N-Training junior leadership program through 6 p.m. April 10.

The program provides teens 14 and 15 with hands-on learning and training experiences designed to instill leadership, responsibility, teamwork and self-confidence. Teens are selected through an interview process and given summer assignments based on skills, interests and availability.

Participation is $110 per teen and includes training and T-shirts. Applications can be mailed or hand-delivered to the city of Henderson’s Youth Enrichment Office, 280 S. Water St.

FITNESS AFTER 50 CLUB TO OPEN IN HENDERSON

Welcyon Fitness After 50, a Minneapolis-based chain of health clubs designed for adults 50 or older, plans to open a Henderson location this spring in Anthem Village Plaza.

The club will be owned and operated by Dr. Mark Severino, previously a medical director and reproductive endocrinologist at Red Rock Fertility in Las Vegas, and his wife Suzanne, a former fitness trainer.

SUMMER CAMPS TO TEACH CHILDREN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension plans its 4-H Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (S.T.E.M.) summer day camps from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 9-11 for children ages 7 to 11 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 7-9 for those 10-14 at the Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road.

The camps are set to include activities in plant and animal sciences, health and nutrition, computer science, aerospace and more. The cost is $75 per child and includes snacks.
