Nevada’s weekly wage reaches quarterly record

Nevada’s weekly wage soared to a record third-quarter reading in the period that ended in September.
Weekly wages reached an average of $860 in the quarter, up 2.6 percent from $840 in 2014’s third quarter, the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported Wednesday.
The gains exceeded inflation and were mostly in real terms: During the first three quarters of 2015, consumer prices were unchanged compared with the same period of 2014, said Bill Anderson, a chief economist with the employment department.
Wages were up 1.6 percent year over year in the first three quarters of 2015, trending well below the 5 percent spikes that were standard before the recession.
“Although wage growth has eased in recent years, underlying trends continue to improve,” Anderson said.
