Former Target location to open as Burlington retail store

The site of a former Target on West Craig Road in North Las Vegas, which has remained vacant since 2014, will soon find new life as a Burlington retail store.

The retailer, also known as Burlington Coat Factory, will open at 2189 W. Craig Road on Sept. 16, the company said through a spokeswoman Thursday.

Terri Sheridan, North Las Vegas economic development specialist said the off-price retailer would fill “a void” of clothing retailers in the city.

Sheridan said the store opening would also “increase the (business) activity in and around the area.”

Sheridan added that the Burlington will give owners of nearby vacant spaces a better opportunity to market them.

The Burlington will bring 50 to 100 full- and part-time positions to the area.

Robert Touma, a retail consultant with local commercial brokerage NewMarket Advisors who represented the landlord, said the location on Craig Road takes up 50,000 of the building’s 122,000 square feet.

Touma said the arrival of Burlington will likely draw more interest in the remaining 72,600 square feet in the building.

“Burlington is a great co-tenant to have,” said Touma.

In a statement Wednesday, the company said, “Burlington was delighted to create jobs and an exciting new shopping destination to members of the community. North Las Vegas is a vibrant and growing community, and Burlington is happy to contribute to its development.”

The retailer is known for its off-price clothing, furniture and accessories.

The company, which opened its first outlet store in Burlington, New Jersey in 1974, has four Las Vegas locations, including the upcoming store.
