Shooting at downtown park may have involved pellet gun, per Metro

After Las Vegas police reported one person was apparently shot at a downtown park Monday afternoon, now authorities aren’t so sure.

Metropolitan Police Department officers were called about 3:30 p.m. to Justice Myron E. Leavitt and Jaycee Community Park, at 2100 E. St Louis Ave., near the Eastern Avenue section, where multiple people reported hearing gunshots, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

Officers found a person with an apparent gunshot wound under a gazebo near the park’s water play area. But as of 5 p.m., police were working to determine whether the wound was from a pellet gun.

The city marshals took over the investigation Monday night. The person reportedly shot wasn’t cooperating with authorities.

No suspect or motive was named as of Monday night.
