Your 5 best bets for music in the week ahead

Bowie tribute

Word of David Bowie's passing this week was overwhelming. His impact and influence were immeasurable, as evidenced by the earnest expressions of countless artists from seemingly every genre. On Saturday, MIKEATTACK will be paying tribute to the beloved icon at LAVO Las Vegas brunch, playing a set of songs dedicated to Bowie's music.

Erykah Badu

If you haven't heard it yet, head to Soundcloud and check out Erykah Badu's remix of Kanye's latest, "Real Friends." Her take, aptly titled "Trill Friends: Badu Whodini rough mix," is as hot as you'd imagine (soundcloud.com/erykah-she-ill-badu). Catch Badu at the Brooklyn Bowl on Friday. Tickets are $59.50; the show is at 9:30 p.m.

Jauz

After utterly crushing it on the Troubadour Stage at Life is Beautiful this past fall, Jauz is returning to Vegas for a set at the Brooklyn Bowl with Gladiator, Aryay, Blanco, Top Shelf and Wyldsyde. Catch the prolific L.A. producer on Saturday. Tickets are $30 for the 18-and-older show.

Broken Gold

Broken Gold, made up of members of Riverboat Gamblers, plays the most satisfying rock you're likely to hear this side of the Replacements, a connection that the outfit astutely makes on its bandcamp page (music.brokengoldatx.com). Check out the excellent "Turning Blue" EP and then catch the band at the Dive Bar on Tuesday.

Granger Smith

Granger Smith is one of country's brightest acts. Although he's been at it now for over a decade, his latest release, last year's "4x4," featuring "Backroad Song," is his big breakout, the thing that will make saying you saw him at Stoney's on Friday seem like something special in a few years. Tickets are $15; the show is at 10 p.m.
