Marijuana grower explains medical strains

Let me start by saying I have never grown marijuana. I imagine that’s obvious? But I just found out the marijuana weed plant, hemp, absorbs ground properties, therefore reportedly it has been planted in Russia to help clean the area around the nuclear problem of Chernobyl.

Why is this fact pertinent to Las Vegans? Because one recent hang-up, pausing the opening of Nevada’s first medical marijuana dispensaries coming this summer, is they must meet regulations regarding pesticides and other chemical issues. And those regulations had to be meted out first.

Bottom line: If you grow (or possibly store) weed around toxins or metal and other properties, people fear it will absorb those nasties.

I learned that and other marijuana facts on today’s episode of the “Doug Elfman Show,” available on podcast apps, iTunes, and DougElfman.com.

Today’s guest is Jason Sturtsman, former part-owner of Beauty Bar, current owner of a cannabis cultivation facility, a manager at an upcoming dispensary, and a member of the Independent Laboratory Advisory Committee charged with devising various marijuana standards.

Among other things, he explains the won’t-get-high strains that stop children from epilepsy from dying, and strain creams giving people get relief from gout and inflamations.
