Towbin Dodge, 275 Auto Mall Drive, plans to host an animal adoption drive in partnership with the Nevada SPCA from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 20. The showroom will play host to a variety of dogs in need of homes, and the dealership plans to donate $150 to the Nevada SPCA for each car sold that day. Towbin also will be accepting donations of essential items for the Nevada SPCA, including canned pet food, blankets, towels and crates. Volunteers will be on site handling the animals, assessing potential adopters and answering questions.

FITNESS AFTER 50 CLUB TO OPEN IN HENDERSON

Welcyon Fitness After 50, a Minneapolis-based chain of health clubs designed for adults 50 or older, was scheduled to open its Henderson location June 8 at 2550 Anthem Village Drive, Suite 140.

The club is owned and operated by Dr. Mark Severino, previously a medical director and reproductive endocrinologist at Red Rock Fertility in Las Vegas, and his wife Suzanne, a former fitness trainer.

LVAC TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN UNION VILLAGE

Las Vegas Athletic Clubs recently signed an agreement with Union Village, near Galleria Drive and U.S. Highway 95, to construct an 85,000-square-foot exercise facility within the health care complex.

Once completed, the club’s amenities are set to include an indoor running track, indoor pool, spa, steam and sauna rooms, group fitness classes, kids’ playroom, juice bar, racquetball courts and more. Construction is scheduled to begin this year.

BIKE HENDERSON PROGRAM PLANNED JULY THROUGH SEPTEMBER

The city of Henderson plans its Bike Henderson program from July 1 to Sept. 30.

Teens and adults 15 or older who bike 250 miles and children 5 to 14 who bike 50 miles within the three months are scheduled to receive a T-shirt. Participants can register online or by visiting any Henderson recreation center.
