A Chevalier Investiture was held March 1 to honor Richard P. Hunker of Dhahran Lodge and Buzz D. Ingram and Arthur W. Cozad III, both Henderson DeMolay Chapter advisers. The honor is a citation for outstanding and marked service to the Order of DeMolay and a unanimous vote of the International Supreme Council of The Order of DeMolay is required.

The seventh annual Soroptimist Live Your Dream Student Art Contest highlighted girls’ career potential and asked students to draw or paint a picture of a working woman they know and admire (and include a short description). Fifth- and sixth-graders at Mater Academy of Nevada participated, and students Kyara Brown-Conerly took first place, Kyla Kettwich took second and Melanie Garcia took third.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Robert M. Barth recently joined the U.S. Army Indianapolis Recruiting Battalion’s Bloomington Company as the center commander for the Evansville Recruiting Center, Evansville, Ind. He is a 1995 graduate of Bonanza High School.

PT’s Entertainment Group held a fundraiser at its four Sean Patrick’s locations from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31 in honor of Madison “Maddy” Graves, original founder and partner of Mad Matty’s Casino, GeeBee’s Bar & Grill, Kavanugh’s, Morrissey’s, Molly Malone’s and Sean Patrick’s Irish Pubs. Each location accepted donations to benefit Keep Memory Alive and the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Larry Ruvo of Southern Wine & Spirits and a former classmate of Graves, along with the Ruvo Family Foundation, matched the donation of the amount collected. During that time, $10,000 was raised in Graves’ honor.

Andres Ortiz of North Las Vegas made the fall 2014 dean’s list at Siena College in Albany, N.Y.

Army Pvt. Sesolo K. Cocker graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Benning, Ga. Cocker is the son of Sesolo and July Cocker of Las Vegas.

Nicole Simpson, Jordan Goldstein and Joshua Jackson, all of Las Vegas, made the fall 2014 dean’s list at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass.

Samantha Tso of Las Vegas made the fall 2014 honor roll at the University of Dallas.

Wei Lin of Las Vegas made the fall 2014 dean’s list at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

Celina Capone of Henderson made the fall 2014 dean’s list at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.

Ameena Ahmed of Henderson and Max Goldman of Las Vegas made the fall 2014 dean’s list at Whittier College in Whittier, Calif.

Air Force Airman Martin K. Balutski graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Balutski is the son of Donna and Mitchell Balutski of Dover, Vt., and brother of Michael Balutski of Las Vegas.
