Air Force Reserve Airman Tinesha T. Weathers graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Weathers is the daughter of Angela Ruckoldt of North Las Vegas. She is a 2013 graduate of Legacy High School.

Air Force Airman Jessup E. Smoot graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Smoot is the son of Steven W. Smoot of Las Vegas and grandson of Pearl H. Quick of Richmond, Va. He is a 2012 graduate of Spring Valley High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Devin S. Kuebler graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Kuebler is the son of Mary J. Jarrell and Stephen F. Kuebler of Las Vegas. He is a 2010 graduate of Coronado High School.

Air Force Airman Jacob A. Pope graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Pope is the son of Robbi L. Krueger-Deporto and Michael M. Deporto of Las Vegas. He is a 2013 graduate of Bonanza High School.

Air Force Airman Trenton J. Kissinger graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. Kissinger is the son of Christopher Kissinger of Littleton, Colo., and Kima L. White of Las Vegas. He is a 2013 graduate of Mountain View Christian School.

Mareshah Dupree,16, has been accepted to Berea College in Berea, Ky. She is the daughter of Trinth and Andrea Dupree of Las Vegas.

Brianna Ruvo, an 18-year-old senior at Bishop Gorman High School, has been named the recipient of the Barbara Malloy Memorial Leadership Service Award. Erica Korbel, a 17-year-old senior at Bishop Gorman, has been named the recipient of the Violet Richardson Award. The awards were presented by Soroptimist International of Greater Las Vegas, a community service organization for business and professional women dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.

The following local students were among 42 seniors who received the Gold Axe Award for their achievements at Northern Arizona University: Brittany Moles of Henderson and Kevin Wright of Las Vegas.

Natalie Pinkney, a junior from Las Vegas studying psychology, was elected executive vice president of Marquette University Student Government for the 2014-15 school year in Milwaukee. Pinkney is one of six student leaders elected to the executive board of MUSG, which is responsible for acting as the primary student voice of the Marquette community.

Trent Dolby, a senior at Faith Lutheran High School, received an appointment from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, one of five federal service academies, in Kings Point, N.Y. One of approximately 250 appointees selected to attend the Academy out of 2,200 qualified applicants, Dolby received the required congressional nomination from U.S. Rep. Joe Heck. A four-year letterman and two-time state placer at Faith, Dolby plans to wrestle for the Mariners. Dolby is the son of Dan and Yolanda Dolby of Las Vegas.

Nevada State College graduate and Iraqi war veteran Jade R. Alfasi, 26, has been accepted to St. James Medical School on the Caribbean Island of Anguilla. Alfasi is a Centennial High School graduate.

Cornell College, a private liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, Iowa, has announced the students it has accepted for admission through April 11. Jared Brathor of Henderson was accepted and was awarded the Founders Scholarship. Courtney Cates of Henderson was accepted and was awarded the Presidential Scholarship. Aspen Bryant of Las Vegas was accepted and was awarded the Fine Arts Pending. Kevin Vargas of Las Vegas was accepted and was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship. Tayler Wiese of Las Vegas was accepted and was awarded the Founders Scholarship. Fredy Benavides of Las Vegas was accepted and was awarded the Founders Scholarship.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Haley A. White graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. White is the daughter of Amy White of North Las Vegas and the former ward of Daphne Valleau and niece of Jimmy Valleau, both of Wallkill, N.Y. She is a 2013 graduate of Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy.

Army Pvt. Andrew A. Wood has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., which included basic military training and advanced individual training. Wood is the son of Deborah and Russell Wood of North Las Vegas. He is a 2013 graduate of Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy.

Sigma Epsilon Pi inducted 24 new members to celebrate exceptional scholarly achievement while at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. Megan Robbins was among those inducted at a ceremony April 29. Robbins is a criminal justice major from Las Vegas.
