MASTER GARDENERS TO HOST KIDS GARDENING CLASSES

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Junior Master Gardener program plans to offer hands-on gardening activities for children from June 11 to July 30. Classes are slated from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursdays at the University of Nevada Clark County Center for Urban Food Production, 4600 Horse Drive.

The classes aim to help children learn about the environment, how plants grow in the desert and where food comes from. The class fee is $52 per child. A multiple sibling discount is available upon request. Students must register to participate as class size is limited.

J.R. PONY PARTIES PLANS SUMMER DAY CAMP

ALTERNATE ROUTE SUGGESTED TO FLOYD LAMB PARK FOR EVENTS

Until the construction subsides on Durango Drive in June, Ward 6 Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross encourages drivers to consider taking an alternate route to Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs: Exit U.S. Highway 95 at Horse Drive and take a right on Fort Apache Road, then a right on Brent Lane and follow it into the park, or use Racel Street to Durango Drive to avoid the road construction at Grand Teton and Durango drives.

ALIANTE LIBRARY TO HOST FULL S.T.E.A.M. AHEAD

The Aliante Library, 2400 W. Deer Springs Way, is set to host a monthly program designed for preschoolers and younger elementary-aged students and their parents or caregivers to explore, create and experiment in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. CENTENNIAL HILLS HOSPITAL PLANS BABY-SITTING CERTIFICATION CLASS

A baby-sitting certification class is planned from 8 a.m. to noon the second Wednesday of every month at Centennial Hills Hospital, 6900 N. Durango Drive. The class helps youths ages 11 to 16 gain the knowledge and skills they need to care for infants and children, as well as time to practice these skills in a Web-based program.

The cost is $30 per person. The class is to be held in the computer lab on the first floor of the hospital. Class size is limited, and registration is required by calling 702-388-4888.

KIWANIS CLUB WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS
