Two people escaped injury after a fire broke out Monday at a home in the northwest valley.
The fire was called in at 2:12 a.m. Monday at 3969 Philomena St., near Alexander Road and Interstate 215, according to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski.
Szymanski said two adults were asleep inside the home when the fire started, and were awoken by a dog.
Four engines responded and crews knocked down the fire about 2:40 a.m.. Crews were able to confine the blaze to the garage. A silver SUV was in the garage and scorched.
“We heard two booms and we thought someone was trying to break in,” said Samantha Pierinelli, who lives next door.
Szymanski said the cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire caused about $30,000 in damage, he said.
