5 Netflix offerings to watch after the kids go to bed
While watching movies with kids can be enjoyable and a lot of fun, sometimes you need something that will appeal more to your adult side. So here is a list of five movies you can watch when they go to bed — movies with a great story and acting.
“Mud” has a great story and great actors. It follows two young boys who encounter a fugitive and form a pact to help him evade the vigilantes that are on his trail. They also try to help reunite him with his true love.
The movie stars Matthew McConaughey, who is on a roll lately with picking up great parts. The movie takes place on the Mississippi River in Arkansas, which adds so much intrigue to the story. The relationship between the two boys and the Matthew McConaughey character is what drives this movie.
“Mud” is a little slow and relies mostly on acting and good storytelling over explosions and crazy action. If you are in a mood for a good drama, then you can not go wrong with “Mud.”
Something for the Ladies
Yep guys, this is another Nicholas Sparks movie. This is a movie to reward the lady in your life for letting you watch the NBA playoffs all week long. What better way to say thanks or earn credit for the next week then watching a movie like “Safe Haven” with them?
“Safe Haven” is about a young woman with a mysterious past who ends up in Southport, North Carolina, where her bond with a widower forces her to confront the dark past that haunts her.
If it helps out guys, this is one of the better Nicholas Sparks books adapted to film. “Safe Haven” also has a couple of plot twists that will help you stay entertained as well.
A comedy for both of you
It is springtime, and baseball is in the air. Why not watch a comedy about America’s pastime? The movie is about two sisters who join the first female professional baseball league and struggle to help it succeed while also dealing with their own growing rivalry.
The funniest moments in the movie come from the hilarious Tom Hanks. Before Tom Hanks was racking up all the Oscars for dramas, he was also known as a pretty funny comedic actor, and it shows in this movie.
“A League of their Own” is a movie that will appeal to the ladies and gentlemen. And who knows, it might inspire a game of catch with your significant other after you watch.
Something scary
So this is the wildcard of the list. The first “Insidious” was done really well. The plot of “Insidious 2” is interwoven into the first movie, and the way they combined the movies was brilliant. With that said, it was not as good as the first but still has plenty of scares.
This time around, the Lambert family is trying to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.
If you have not seen the first one, you might want to watch that first. If you are just looking for a movie that has a lot of jumpy parts and will make you want to sleep with the night light on, then this could be for you.
Something awesome
Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol
MI4 is the best movie in the Mission Impossible series yet. While MI3 was great, this one is even better. This time around, the IMF is shut down when it is framed for the bombing of the Kremlin, causing Ethan Hunt and his new team to go rogue to clear the IMF name.
Tom Cruise is still proving to be a bankable action star. In fact they are in pre-production for MI5. MI4 will be tough to top, though. The movie starts quick with action and never lets go of the gas till the end.
So your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to watch the pure awesomeness of what is called “Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol.”
