Matt Damon returning to Las Vegas for ‘Jason Bourne’ premiere

Matt Damon spent six weeks tearing up the Strip earlier this year while filming “Jason Bourne,” so it’s only fitting that he’s returning to the scene of his on-screen crimes for the movie’s premiere.

Damon will attend the red-carpet screening July 18 in Las Vegas. The location will be announced at a later date.

There’s also no word on other celebrities or actors from the film who might attend. “Jason Bourne” co-stars Julia Stiles, “The Danish Girl” Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones.

Damon broke the news through a charity campaign for Water.org. The actor is partnering with Omaze.com to fly a contest winner and friend to Las Vegas to attend the premiere and the afterparty as his guests.

It won’t be Damon’s first Las Vegas premiere. In 2007, the actor walked the red carpet along with George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Don Cheadle for the “Ocean’s 13” premiere at the Palms as part of the CineVegas film festival.

Presenting “Jason Bourne” footage in April during CinemaCon at Caesars Palace, Frank Marshall, the legendary producer of everything from “Raiders of the Lost Ark” to “Jurassic World,” praised the car crashes and elaborate stunts that were filmed on the Strip. They make up, he said, “what I think is the best ‘Bourne’ chase ever.”

“Jason Bourne” opens July 29.
