Barbra Streisand to perform at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena this summer

Barbra Streisand returns to Las Vegas for her first concert in four years and her first in the T-Mobile Arena on Aug. 6.

The 74-year-old show business legend, whose name tops the “residency” wish list for Las Vegas casino promoters, will perform her career hits as well as those from her next album, “Encore: Movie Partners Play Broadway.”

Tickets start at $95 and the general-public on-sale begins at 10 a.m. May 25 through t-mobilearena.com or by calling 888-929-7849 (A pre-sale for American Express cardholders begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday, and another for qualified M Life players club members starts at 10 a.m. May 23).

The new album ties back to both her “Partners” duets album of 2014 and her two previous collections of Broadway show tunes. Streisand released “The Broadway Album” in 1985 and “Back to Broadway” in 1993. The new one promises duets with “some of Hollywood’s biggest stars” on Broadway classics.

Streisand last sang at the MGM Grand Garden in November 2012. Her limited history in Las Vegas includes a couple of casino firsts: inaugurating the International (now the Westgate Las Vegas) in 1969, and the opening of the MGM Grand Garden on New Year’s weekend of 1993-94, after a 27-year hiatus from live performing.

She first played the Riviera as Liberace’s “extra added attraction” in 1963.

In the past, Las Vegas promoters have had to deny rumors that Streisand was offered as much as $100 million for a Las Vegas residency, though such a guarantee could make financial sense if scaled to enough dates — always the stumbling block for the star who has never made live performing her top career priority.

Streisand filmed scenes from the 2012 movie comedy “The Guilt Trip” at Caesars Palace and was given a tour of the Colosseum at Caesars Palace by its operators at AEG Live. She didn’t bite on that offer but is doing this concert for rival concert behemoth Live Nation.
