This week’s 5 best bets for Vegas entertainment

George Strait

Save the big life changes for somewhere beyond a George Strait concert. When the country icon came out of semi-retirement to launch his periodic T-Mobile Arena exclusives in April, it was just what you remember: timeless songs, delivered a few at a time from each corner of his diamond-shaped stage. See him again at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; tickets are $75 to $200; call 888-929-7849.

Pat Boone

Fifty years after topping the charts with “I’ll Be Home,” “Long Tall Sally” and “I Almost Lost My Mind,” 82-year-old Pat Boone sings at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Suncoast. We’re guessing the faith-based singer has retired “Enter Sandman” and other hard-rock covers from his 1997 “In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy” album. Tickets are $17.50 to $44; call 702-284-7777.

38 Special and Marshall Tucker Band

Sure, summer’s over in that school is back on and Labor Day is gone. But September brings some of Las Vegas’ best outdoor concert weather. Southern-rock fans can double down with 38 Special (“Hold On Loosely,” “Caught Up in You”) and the Marshall Tucker Band (“Can’t You See,” “Heard It in a Love Song”). See them on the Sunset Station lawn at 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $22 to $52; call 800-745-3000.

Wanda Sykes

Why do comedians give it to us so much straighter than the politicians they talk about? Wanda Sykes reminds us of her no-nonsense approach with her cameo as a straight-talking couples counselor in “Bad Moms.” She’s back at Treasure Island at 9 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $65.35 to $87.15; call 702-894-7722.

Santana

“I got a fever. And the only prescription is more cowbell!” And congas. And timbales. Not to mention the eloquent guitar of Carlos Santana, all due back for another House of Blues run starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mandalay Bay with more shows through Sept. 25. Tickets are $89.50 to $350; call 702-632-7600.
