This week’s 5 best bets for Vegas entertainment

Jeff Dunham

It’s a coincidence, but probably for the best, that Terry Fator is off Sundays. We already have ventriloquist Paul Zerdin also working the same night that Jeff Dunham, the Big Kahuna — or Peanut, or whatever that funny-looking puppet is — returns to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Even in a city of excess, that’s a lot of puppets. Dunham performs at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Tickets are $49.50 to $89.50; call 888-929-7849.

Michael McDonald

When Michael McDonald teams up with fellow blue-eyed soul men Boz Scaggs and Donald Fagen, they call themselves the Boys of September. But when he plays the Cannery by himself, we call that just the right mellow tone to kick off a summer. Tickets for the 8 p.m. Friday show are $39.95 to $59.95; call 702-507-5700.

Heart

Come for the hits, stay for a potential preview of Heart’s upcoming July album of new and “reinvented” songs, “Beautiful Broken.” Ann and Nancy Wilson rock out at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. Tickets are $55 to $99.50; call 702-632-7600.

‘Forever Purple — An All-Star Tribute to the Music of Prince’

When Michelle Johnson assembles a Prince tribute with performers from all over town — with the names dropped including Sonny Turner, Toscha Comeaux and Naomi Mauro — you can bet the only question will be who gets to sing “Sexy MF”? The 9 p.m. Tuesday show at Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center also includes the Fat City Horns and Desert Angels Gospel Choir. Tickets are $25 to $40; call 702-749-2000.

Mariah Carey

“The butterfly lands and takes off again,” Mariah Carey proclaimed last year when she launched her “#1 to Infinity” retrospective last year in the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The butterfly returns at 8 p.m. Tuesday to sing all her hits again in chronological order. Tickets are $55 to $250; call 888-929-7849
