This week’s 5 best bets for Vegas entertainment

Garth Brooks

Garth Brooks brings it back home this weekend. No, not Oklahoma, but Las Vegas, the only place where you could see him for three years. Now he is barnstorming arenas again with spouse Trisha Yearwood, but recent covers of the 54-year-old’s influences — Billy Joel (“Piano Man”) and Bob Seger (“Night Moves”) — seem to carry over from his years at Wynn Las Vegas. Score a ticket if you can for 7 p.m. shows Friday and Saturday at T-Mobile Arena. All seats are $85; call 844-634-2784.

Jim Jefferies

He’s the Australian comedian every dude wants to down a shot with, and Jim Jefferies has done his best to accommodate them over the years. It’s the contrast with that jovial personality that makes his razor-sharp insights on religion, gun control and other issue so deadly. Jefferies previews his upcoming Netflix special “Freedumb” with shows at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at The Mirage. Tickets are $54.49 to $65.39; call 702-792-7777.

Charo

Charo plays the South Point this weekend, just ahead of Caesars Palace’s 50th anniversary in August. That’s where Xavier Cugat both introduced her and married her, two days after the hotel opened. She’s older now than he was then, a lot of “Cuchi cuchi!”s under the bridge indeed. See her at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at South Point. Tickets are $25 to $35; call 702-797-8055.

Carlos Mencia

Fans love him more than other comedians do. But Carlos Mencia has been a Las Vegas headliner for more than 20 years, so whose vote counts for more? Mencia brings his stand-up to The Orleans at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $38.10 to $59.90; call 702-365-7075.

Pops Fernandez

Fair’s fair. Martin Nievera, the “Concert King” of the Philippines, played the M Resort a couple of weeks ago, so now it’s time for a nearby property, the Silverton, to host his ex-wife, Pops Fernandez, who happens to be the “Concert Queen” of the Philippines. But she’s more of a rare sighting in these parts, so see her while you can at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $34 to $75; call 702-263-7777.
