2 North Las Vegas firefighters injured while battling blaze

Two North Las Vegas firefighters were injured while fighting a blaze on Thursday afternoon, according to a city news release.

Both firefighters were taken to University Medical Center Trauma Center after one of the firefighters fell through the roof with flames surrounding his body. The other firefighter partially fell through, but was able to pull his partner out.

Neither firefighter suffered major injuries and they are both in stable condition, according to the release.

The fire, which started as smoke coming out of the roof of a home in the 3000 block of St. George Street, near Civic Center Drive and Cheyenne Avenue, displaced eight residents who were not injured.

A damage estimate was not released.

The American Red Cross will assist the displaced residents.
