Officer injured after suspect pushes her over motel railing

A Las Vegas police officer was injured after a suspect she was chasing pushed her over a railing at the Ponderosa Motel near Fremont Street and Sahara Avenue early Wednesday morning.

The officer pulled over the suspect, who was later taken into custody behind the motel, in the parking lot at about 2 a.m., and the person fled on foot up a flight of stairs.

When the officer pursued, the suspect pushed the officer over the stairs railing, police Lt. Mike Bechler said.

Another officer was also hurt during the altercation.

The injuries both officers received were minor.
