Eight meetings scheduled for input into Clark County School District breakup

Eight town hall meetings will be held over two weeks beginning July 28 to provide input into the proposed plan to reorganize the Clark County School District.

State lawmakers have less than six months to decide how the district should be reorganized. They must submit a final reorganization plan by Jan. 1. The plan would shift power away from central administration and offer principals, teachers and parents more control over their school’s budget, curriculum and staffing decisions.

The meetings will be held at:

— 6 p.m. July 28 at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St.

— 6 p.m. Aug. 1 a Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane in North Las Vegas.

— 6 p.m. Aug. 2 at Sierra Vista High School, 8100 W. Robindale Road.

— 6 p.m. Aug. 3 at Northwest Career & Technical Academy, 8200 W. Tropical Parkway.

— 6 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Clark County Fairgrounds Fine Arts Building, 1301 Whipple Ave., in Logandale.

— 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at Desert Breeze Community Center, 8275 Spring Mountain Road.

— 6 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Clark County Government Center Commission Chambers, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.

— 6 p.m. Aug. 10 at Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 McLeod Drive.
