Eight people were displaced by a fire that destroyed a North Las Vegas house Saturday, officials say.

The fire started about 12:20 p.m. in the single-family home, 329 Dutchess Ave., near the intersection of Carey Avenue and Commerce Street, a city Fire Department release said.

The family of five adults and three children, along with four dogs, were able to escape. No injuries were reported.

Red Cross is assisting the residents with their personal and housing needs, the release said.

Damage was estimated at $200,000. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
