1 critical after hit-and-run crash in east Las Vegas
One person is in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash in the east Las Vegas Valley Monday night, police said.
A Ford Mustang traveling at high speed south on South Hollywood Boulevard near Desert Inn Road about 11:15 p.m. left the road to the west and then re-entered the roadway, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.
The Mustang’s driver lost control, causing the vehicle to slide sideways and then roll over. The left rear passenger, Alejandro Camargo-Hernandez, 18, was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest in a desert area next to the road, the release said. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
One of the vehicle’s occupants, Jaime Santillan, 20, ran from the scene and was later found in his apartment complex, police said.
Another occupant, Omar Flores, 18, was taken to Sunrise Hospital for minor injuries. But he left before he was treated and before detectives could interview him.
Police had not yet determined who was driving the car when the crash occurred.
