1 person hospitalized after crash near Flamingo and Durango

A motorcyclist was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning after a collision in the southwest Las Vegas Valley.

About 11:20 a.m., a 2001 Honda CBR operated by 18-year-old Las Vegas Stephen Striker was traveling east on Flamingo Road, reportedly at a high rate of speed, Metro said.

At the same time, a 2007 GMC Yukon, driven by 54-year-old John Eaton from Burlingame, California, was also heading east on Flamingo near Flamingo Road and Durango Drive, police said.

“The motorcycle operator over applied the front brakes causing the motorcycle to overturn onto its side,” Metro said in a news release.

Both the motorcycle and Striker collided with the Yukon, police said.

Striker was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

No other information was immediately available.
