2 hurt, 12 displaced in south central Las Vegas apartment complex fire

Two people were injured and 12 people were displaced in a fire at an apartment complex in the south central valley Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to a fire, reported at 7:24 a.m., at a two-story apartment complex at 3711 S. Valley View Blvd., near Twain Avenue.

When crews arrived they found smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building. After the fire was extinguished, two apartments had sustained smoke damage and two others had water damage.

One person was taken to the University Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation, along with a firefighter suffering from unknown injuries.

The American Red Cross has been called in to help eight adults and four children who were displaced by the fire.

The cost of damage caused by the fire has not been estimated. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
