Coroner identifies man shot and killed near northeast valley apartments

The man shot and killed in the northeast valley near an apartment complex Wednesday evening has been identified by the Clark County coroner.

Kevin Camacho, 21, of North Las Vegas, died from a gunshot wound to the chest, the coroner said.

At about 7:23 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Adobe Villas apartments, 3550 E. Lake Mead Blvd., near the Pecos Road intersection, to investigate possible shots fired and a reports of man on the ground, a Metropolitan Police Department release said.

Medical personnel pronounced that man, Camacho, dead at the scene. Metro's investigation found that multiple shots were heard and the victim was seen lying on the ground near one of the apartment buildings, the release said.

The suspect can be described only as a tall, thin black male in a gray hoodie; his motive is unknown.

This is the eighth homicide investigated by Metro's homicide unit in 2016.
