Delta flight bound for Salt Lake City returns to Las Vegas after loss of cabin pressure

A plane bound for Salt Lake City from Las Vegas on Friday afternoon had to return to McCarran International Airport shortly after takeoff because of a loss of cabin pressure, officials said.

Delta flight #345 took off from McCarran about 5:30 p.m. But just as the plane made its way over the southwest Utah border, the cabin pressure loss was reported and the plane turned around.

The flight to Salt Lake City was supposed to last about three hours. Instead, the plane was only in the air about 30 minutes.

It’s not clear what caused the loss of pressure, McCarran spokeswoman Linda Healey said.

The plane landed safely back at McCarran just after 6 p.m. None of the 157 people on board were injured.
