Firefighter injured fighting motor speedway fire

A Clark County firefighter was injured while fighting a fire at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

A refrigerated tractor trailer that was outside the speedway caught fire just before 3 p.m., firefighters said, and one crew member was hurt while putting out the blaze.

He was treated by a doctor at the scene, the department reported.

The fire came during the Red Bull Air Race at the speedway.

Soon after, wind forced the race organizers to discontinue Sunday’s races after gusts of 34 mph were recorded, speedway officials reported.

Race organizers said the wind toppled several 80-foot-tall air pylons that were being used for the races.
