High winds prompt dust advisory

The Clark County Department of Air Quality has issued a dust advisory for Wednesday.
The department recommends it may be best for children, the elderly and people with respiratory diseases to stay inside during dust storms.
Officials said dust levels can be reduced by driving slow on unpaved roads, not taking short cuts across vacant lots, only riding off-road vehicles in approved areas outside the urban Las Vegas valley, and fencing off barren property.
The National Weather Service said wind gusts could reach up to 50 miles per hour until 9 p.m., which would keep dust in the air.
