Man dies of self-inflicted gunshot wound at Metro substation

Las Vegas police are investigating a suicide in the parking lot of the department's southwest-valley substation Tuesday morning.

A man died in a vehicle at the Enterprise Area Command station at 6975 W. Windmill Lane, near South Rainbow Boulevard. Officer Larry Hadfield, a Las Vegas police spokesman, said it appeared the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

The shooting occurred about 11 a.m., and police are investigating the incident.

Police released little information about the incident on the scene. Officer Jesse Roybal said officers saw a man slumped over in a vehicle and forced their way into the car to find him dead.

It was not immediately clear what the man was doing at the police station. Additional details were not released.
