Police: Man stabbed over stolen drugs

A man was stabbed in the chest, and he and his girlfriend were held against their will Thursday because of stolen drugs, Las Vegas police said.

Las Vegas police arrested 32-year-old Craig Jackson in connection with an armed kidnapping and attempted murder at The Suites weekly rental units located on South Boulder Highway, near Flamingo Road. Two female accomplices, 35-year-old Toni Guerrero and 32-year-old Shannan Davis, also have been arrested in connection with the armed kidnapping.

According to police records, Jackson, Guerrero and Davis showed up at the 48-year-old victim’s apartment about 10:30 a.m. and demanded money from the man. Jackson reportedly told the victims that his rent was late due to the victim’s friend stealing $40 worth of methamphetamine from him. Jackson threatened the man and said he would be back later for $200.

The victim was scared, so he came up with a plan.

He called his ex-wife, explained to her that he was going to call later and ask her to wire him $500. He told police that he never expected her to wire him anything, and the whole thing was a trick to get Jackson to leave him alone.

But the plan did not work.

About 3 p.m. Jackson returned with Guerrero and Davis, police said.

The man made the call, but Jackson said no one was leaving until the money came through. The victims told police Jackson threatened to kill them.

Jackson instructed Davis and Guerrero to stay at the apartment with the female victim, and the male victim took Jackson to different locations and went through the motions of trying to claim the wired money with a fake order number. The two men were gone for approximately two hours, police said.

Jackson reportedly told Guerrero and Davis to search the apartment for valuables. When they did not find any, the two women left the apartment with food items.

According to police records, Jackson had the man call his family and friends and beg for money, beating him between calls. Jackson wrapped a hard object, perhaps a metal ball, in a green towel and beat the man. The male victim had lacerations on his face, and two of his teeth were knocked out.

When the man saw Jackson go into the kitchen and grab a steak knife, he thought he was going to be killed.

He ran into the bedroom, smashed out the window and called for help. He told police Jackson then stabbed him under his left armpit and ran out of the apartment.

Las Vegas police said they found Guerrero and Davis at a nearby apartment complex Saturday. They claimed Jackson was not there, but police found him hiding under a bed.

Jackson told police he did not stab anyone, and that the man received his injuries throwing himself out of a window.
