Battery charges against Trump’s campaign manager dropped

LOS ANGELES — Donald Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski won’t be prosecuted on misdemeanor battery charges, a Florida prosecutor decided on Thursday.
Lewandowski was charged with simple battery late last month in connection with a March 8 incident with a reporter for Breitbart News.
A surveillance video released by Jupiter police appeared to show Lewandowski grabbing toward reporter Michelle Fields, as she attempted to ask Trump a question following a press conference. She then appears to be pulled backward. Trump had his back turned away from both Lewandowski and Fields.
The Trump campaign challenged initial reports last month that Lewandowski had been arrested.
“Mr. Lewandowski was issued a Notice to Appear and was given a court date,” Trump’s campaign said in a statement. “He was not arrested. Mr. Lewandowski is absolutely innocent of this charge. He will enter a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court. He is completely confident that he will be exonerated.”
