National Rifle Association ads fight ballot initiative to expand firearm background checks

The first ad from the National Rifle Association’s Nevadans for Freedom campaign against Question 1 launches this week.
The 30-second ad will run in Las Vegas and Reno and features Attorney General Adam Laxalt and several county sheriffs, all of whom have come out against the ballot initiative proposing to expand firearm background checks to private-party sales and transfers.
In the ad, Laxalt and the others urge voters to “stand with law enforcement” in opposing Question 1.
The NRA didn’t specify the ad run’s cost Tuesday, but said it is in the seven figures.
