Family chooses Pardee home again

Twelve years ago Kevin and Melissa Merrick and their 2-year-old son Austin were featured in the Las Vegas Review-Journal's real estate section after buying a new Pardee home in the Seven Hills area of Henderson.

"We loved that home," Melissa Merrick said, "And when we saw Montclaire, we fell in love with Pardee Homes all over again."

Because they wanted Austin, now 14, to be able to walk to Coronado High School, the Merricks ranked location as a top priority. The Montclaire neighborhood is in a newer area of Henderson off Horizon Ridge Parkway and Jeffreys Street.

"Montclaire is near new retail, restaurants and medical services, in addition to highly rated schools," Pardee Homes Regional Sales Director Rob Tuvell said. "The gated neighborhood provides buyers with a nice mix of peaceful living along with easy access to work and play."

Kevin Merrick said their first Pardee home, which they sold five years after their purchase, turned out to be "the best investment ever."

"We love the floor plans," Melissa Merrick said of the family's new home. "There is lots of room for entertaining, and the yard is large enough for a pool, patio and a fire pit where we will have views of the Las Vegas Strip."

The Merricks chose Plan Two, which measures 2,789 square feet and has four bedrooms, three baths, great room, loft, den and three-car tandem garage. Austin has claimed the loft as his "kid cave" where he and his friends will gather for games.

Montclaire's six floor plans range from 2,789 to 3,959 square feet, with as many as six bedrooms and four baths. Prices start at $291,150.

All of Pardee's newly designed homes, including those at Montclaire, are part of the builder's LivingSmart brand, a program with standard and optional measures that boost energy efficiency, save water, improve indoor air quality and encourage material conservation and the use of recycled or sustainable resources in new homes, according to Tuvell.

Through two new programs, Pardee is helping many people overcome obstacles to buying a new home. Smart Move Advantage, an independent company, will rent a qualified buyer's existing home for as many as three years.

"The Smart Move Advantage program represents one of several steps Pardee Homes has taken to boost buyer confidence and smooth the path to new-home ownership," Tuvell said.

Through Pardee's own Homeward Bound program, prospective buyers receive expert assistance on credit issues that can affect home loan availability.
