Sports Betting Spotlight: NFL Week 8

Matt Youmans and the Golden Nugget sports book’s Aaron Kessler and Tony Miller preview the college football and NFL weekend by offering 12 plays:

Matt Youmans, Review-Journal:

Last week: 3-1

Season: 20-8

  • COLORADO (+13.5) over Ucla
  • PENN STATE (+14) over Ohio State
  • LOUISIANA STATE (+3.5) over Mississippi
  • Best Bet: Texans (-2.5) over TITANS

“The Texans were dominating at Pittsburgh on Monday before unraveling in a string of mistakes, and Bill O’Brien is a ticked off coach this week. Running back Arian Foster and wideout Andre Johnson make Houston’s offense far more reliable. The Titans are starting rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger, and J.J. Watt will be in his face all day.”

Aaron Kessler, Golden Nugget:

  • Raiders (+6.5) over BROWNS
  • North Carolina (+6.5) over VIRGINIA
  • Texas Tech (+23) over TEXAS CHRISTIAN
  • Best Bet: Oregon State (+13.5) over STANFORD

“This is a big number to cover for Stanford’s terrible offense. Sean Mannion is an experienced quarterback for Oregon State, and if he can put one or two touchdowns on the board, that’s probably all the Beavers need to keep this game close.”

Tony Miller, Golden Nugget:

Last week: 4-0

Season: 16-12

  • Ohio State (-14) over PENN STATE
  • Falcons (+4) over Lions
  • Colts (-3) over STEELERS
  • Best Bet: CHIEFS (-7) over Rams

“The Chiefs are rolling right now behind quarterback Alex Smith, who has been playing much better and just beat Philip Rivers in San Diego. The Rams, off their upset of Seattle, will come back to earth.”
