Dana White says Ronda Rousey will not fight in UFC 205

UFC president Dana White is starting the process of putting together the UFC 205 for the organization’s first show in New York. Ronda Rousey won’t be a part of it.

White confirmed Tuesday recent speculation that Rousey won’t return for the historic show at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 12.

“She’s definitely not fighting in New York,” White said during an UFC podcast produced by ESPN. “I’m actually going to start building the New York card this week.”

Rousey (12-1) has not fought since suffering the first loss of her career to Holly Holm at UFC 193.

White will have plenty options. Many fighters have lobbied for a spot at the event.

The absence of Rousey increased the possibility Conor McGregor will headline the show, depending his health coming out of his victory over Nate Diaz on Saturday night. A lightweight title fight against Eddie Alvarez is one possibility.

New York was the last state to legalize mixed martial arts earlier this year.
