Heavyweight contender Ben Rothwell reportedly off UFC 203 card

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum is looking for a new opponent.

Werdum was scheduled to fight Ben Rothwell at UFC 203 on Sept. 10 in Cleveland, Ohio, but Rothwell has suffered a knee injury according to several reports and will be unable to compete.

Several prominent heavyweights have already started lobbying through social media for a shot against Werdum, most notably Derrick Lewis and Stefan Struve.

Werdum lost his title to Stipe Miocic in May. Miocic is slated to defend the belt for the first time against Alistair Overeem in the main event of UFC 203.

Rothwell was looking to bounce back from a decision loss to Junior dos Santos in April that ended a four-fight winning streak.

UFC officials have yet to confirm Rothwell’s injury.
