Here are the matchups for Saturday’s UFC on Fox 21 card

A breakdown of the fights on the main card of Saturday’s UFC on Fox 21 event in Vancouver, British Columbia:

Demian Maia (23-6) vs. Carlos Condit (30-9)

Class: Welterweight

Line: Condit minus-125

Storyline: A matchup of veteran contenders that will put one of them in position to make a claim on a future title shot. Condit is one of the organization’s more well-rounded fighters. He is skilled and powerful on his feet and possesses a dangerous ground game. Don’t expect him to test that part of his game against Maia, however. Maia, who has won five straight, is the division’s best fighter on the mat and might be the best in the UFC. Condit is coming off a split-decision loss to then-champ Robbie Lawler in an epic January title bout. That thriller may have taken something out of Condit, but he showed he is fully recovered from a serious knee injury in 2014. Condit at that level should be too much for Maia as long as he can avoid too many grappling exchanges.

Pick: Condit by third-round knockout

Anthony Pettis (18-5) vs. Charles Oliveira (21-5, 1 No Contest)

Class: Featherweight

Line: Pettis minus-200

Storyline: Pettis, a former lightweight champion, is in desperate need of a win. He will drop to 145 pounds in hopes of getting it, though it won’t be easy against a talented featherweight in Oliveira. Pettis lost the belt to Rafael dos Anjos in March 2015, then lost his next two fights. Oliveira has won five of his past six, as he finally appears to be harnessing his explosive ability. This is a fascinating style matchup, as Pettis, a flashy striker, takes on one of the sport’s slickest submission artists. Oliveira has the capability of striking at a high level, but probably would be best served to avoid that scenario against Pettis.

Pick: Pettis by second-round knockout

Paige VanZant (6-2) vs. Bec Rawlings (7-4)

Class: Women’s strawweight

Line: VanZant minus-210

Storyline: This is a dangerous fight for VanZant. She was obliterated by Rose Namajunas in December, then stepped away to become a star on reality TV. VanZant’s model looks have opened a lot of doors in Hollywood, and while she continues to say she is committed to pursuing her fighting career, it’s incredibly difficult to stay on the grind when so many less-demanding opportunities are out there. VanZant is young and talented, with an aggressive style that makes her dangerous when she’s on her game. But Rawlings is more experienced and should provide a good test for VanZant’s return. VanZant is more talented and rightfully favored, but this is a big price to lay to find out whether her heart is still in the game.

Pick: Rawlings by decision

Joe Lauzon (26-12) vs. Jim Miller (26-8, 1 No Contest)

Class: Lightweight

Line: Lauzon minus-145

Storyline: Most UFC cards have a fight outside the main event that fans circle as the one with the potential to be the most fun to watch. That’s this one. In fact, they each won a fight of the night bonus when they fought for the first time in 2012. Miller won by unanimous decision, but that means little in the rematch with the way the action went back and forth in the first meeting. Both guys had outstanding performances in quick victories at UFC 200 last month at T-Mobile Arena, and they were almost immediately matched up for the rematch. There isn’t much to break down from a stylistic standpoint. Both have outstanding submission skills, but have no problem scrambling and brawling. It would be shocking if this isn’t a fun fight to watch.

Pick: Lauzon by decision
