MMA Rankings: No movement after rare off-week

It was a good week for mixed martial arts fans to take a vacation.

A rare weekend off for the Ultimate Fighting Championship made it a good time to get away. It also ensured the CoveringTheCage.com rankings would remain static.

Don’t get used to it.

There is a UFC event scheduled every Saturday from now until Oct. 15, so plenty of movement is expected.

It starts this week as UFC 202 at T-Mobile Arena features featherweight champion Conor McGregor in a rematch against No. 6 lightweight Nate Diaz. McGregor remains in the pound-for-pound rankings despite his welterweight loss to Diaz based on his performance at 145 pounds.

Diaz could certainly make a big move by duplicating his win.

Feel free to share any disagreements and stay tuned for the latest updates, and keep in mind, while the ranked weight classes are those used by the UFC, fighters competing outside the organization are eligible.
