Nevada Fishing Report

LAKE MEAD — Despite windy weather and slightly lower daytime temperatures, the fishing action remains steady. The east side of Boulder Basin is producing stripers averaging around 2 to 3 pounds. Overnight action has produced good catches. Catfish are hitting late in the day on anchovies and night crawlers. One angler brought in six catfish and a largemouth bass using cut anchovies just after dawn.

LAKE MOHAVE — The striper bite has slowed this week, but a few anglers have found success using plastics and crankbaits. Largemouth bass have been hanging in the shallows, while anglers are finding smallmouth bass on the shelves.

LAUGHLIN — The bite has been picking up this past week, with stripers taking anchovies. According to Rusty at the Riviera Marina, an 8-year-old landed a 1½-pound rainbow trout while throwing a green jig near the lower end of the big bend.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS — The best action has been in the early mornings. A few lucky anglers have been catching fair-sized largemouth bass at Floyd Lamb Park while working around the tules. Given our hot temperatures, the Nevada Department of Wildlife is reminding catch-and-release anglers to take the time to oxygenate the fish before releasing them.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA — Trout action has slowed, but a few anglers did well at Hay Meadow Reservoir over the weekend. They were fishing from the dam with PowerBait. Windy conditions and high temperatures have kept people off the water. Aquatic vegetation has become a problem for boaters on all the reservoirs.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — Trout action has slowed in the past week. Most of the fish being caught are planter. The most productive times are the early mornings and evenings. Largemouth bass have been more cooperative and are taking rubber worms jigged near the tules and spinnerbaits in green and white.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — Bass still are hitting well and taking a variety of lures, such as jigs, spinners and flies. The crappie bite is slow. Trout action has slowed with the warmer temperatures, but the fish still are hitting in the early mornings.
