Southern Nevada Fishing Report, Nov. 26

* LAKE MEAD — Striper action remains good. Live shad has been the best bait in deep waters. Now that the water is cooling, especially this weekend, artificial bait is less effective. Outside government wash has been a hot spot. Black bass fishing has been getting better each week. The deeper water has produced bigger bass. The bass are biting on jigs, tubes and plastic worms.

* LAKE MOHAVE — Smallmouth bass have been caught using swim bait. Stripers have been on the small side. Shore fishing has been successful. The coves should be a nice spot if the weather persists. Lake levels will be variable. Check online for the level to see if it is higher or lower; this can change fishing areas.

* LAUGHLIN — Rainbow trout were stocked at Davis Camp. Stripers are biting off the shore on anchovies. The cold, powerful winds are coming through for the long weekend. Check the weather report before you go, and let someone know where you are going.

* LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS — Following the recent Nevada Department of Wildlife trout plants, anglers have found good fishing at the urban ponds. Multi-colored Power Eggs in orange/chartreuse and pink/chartreuse have been catching fish. Anglers also have found success with various lures, such as Big Jakes and Super Dupers in gold.

* KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA — The reservoirs are starting to freeze up, and winter storms and cold temperatures have kept most people off the area. Some sections of the reservoirs thaw out in the afternoon, but most of Cold Creek has remained frozen and too thin for ice fishing. Please use extreme caution around the waters.

* EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — Action remains good for rainbow and tiger trout. Weather conditions have been good for much of the past week, but temperatures are dropping, and ice is forming along the shoreline. That has made fishing difficult, so most have been fishing off the dock. PowerBait in orange or rainbow has been working well.

* ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — Most of the lake remains ice free, but the upper canyon has iced over. Ice also has formed along much of the shoreline. There has been some afternoon thawing on warmer days, but don't expect that to continue.
