Comforts of home can be found at Kitchen Table

A lot happens around a kitchen table — eating, laughing, talking, sharing — and it's that feeling of comfort that chefs Antonio Nunez and Javier Chavez aim to re-create.

Opening last fall, Kitchen Table, 1716 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, serves a variety of jazzed-up comfort foods for breakfast and lunch. Built on the idea that the table is the center of any home, the cooking duo welcomes customers to start and end their day at the restaurant, whether it's a quick bite on the go or a long, engaging meal.

A Las Vegas native, Nunez crafted his skills working at notable restaurants throughout the valley, such as STK, Mercadito, Whist Stove and Spirits, and Border Grill. After honing his techniques in Paris, Chavez moved to Las Vegas and also made his mark at Mercadito and Whist Stove and Spirits, as well as Mi Casa and Brooklyn Bowl.

To start, appetizers include breakfast taquitos (chorizo, potato, pickled slaw, avocado cream and crema), monkey bread (cinnamon balls), bacon and egg shooters (house mayo, pickled jalapenos and crispy bacon) and Greek yogurt (served with seasonal jam and granola).

Entrees feature chilaquiles (ancho sauce, Oaxaca cheese, smoked pork, scrambled eggs, black beans and one fried egg), a doughnut sandwich (sausage, fried egg and Irish cheddar) and a vegetarian hash (roasted seasonal squash, peppers, potatoes, garlic confit, fresh herbs and eggs) and chicken fried steak (house breaded steak, chipotle sausage gravy, house potatoes and two eggs).

Most items range between $3 and $13.

In addition to a dine-in menu, the eatery also offers grab-and-go items, such as muffins, crepes and bagels. Coffees include cappuccinos, americanos, iced and regular. Prices range from $3 to $12.

The family-friendly restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating; however, the place gets packed quickly, so arrive early if you want a chance to try the pastries before they sell out.

Kitchen Table is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
