YOUTH TROUPE PLANS AUDITIONS MARCH 8

The Rainbow Company Youth Theatre plans auditions for “Ozma of Oz” at 1 p.m. March 8 at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. Roles are available for ages 9 through mature adults.

No prepared material is required. Comfortable shoes and clothes are recommended. The show is scheduled to be performed April 25 through May 4.

FORUM TO OFFER INFORMATION FOR BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED

Registration is available through March 5 for the seventh annual Vision Forum, scheduled from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Las Vegas Senior Center, 451 E. Bonanza Road.

Agencies and services for people who are blind, visually impaired or experiencing temporary vision loss are set to provide information. Attendees can learn skills and meet new friends.

A free guided tour of the Demonstration Gardensfocusing on spring color is scheduled at 10 a.m. March 8 at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road.

Participants should meet in the courtyard and wear walking shoes, hats and bring water. The grounds are open for self-guided walks from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

ENROLLMENT ASSISTANCE TO BE AVAILABLE FOR AFFORDABLE CARE ACT

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is partnering with East Valley Family Services to provide information and enrollment sessions at several libraries for the Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obamacare.

Enrollment assistance is set to be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 5, 12, 17 and 24 at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

CITY COUNCIL AWARDS $25,000 IN GRANTS TO YOUTH GROUPS

The Las Vegas City Council awarded $25,000 in grants Feb. 19 as part of the annual Youth Neighborhood Association Partnership Program.

The grants are slated to go to 31 groups for projects, including a special education student field day and raising funds to provide caps and gowns to homeless graduating high school students.

The program requires youths to match the city’s grant with cash, volunteer time or in-kind services and goods donated to the project.

Projects are required to take place in city limits.

EVENT TO PROVIDE OVERVIEW OF PROGRAM FOR SMOKERS WHO WANT TO QUIT
