Veggie Delight menu fuses Vietnamese and Chinese flavors

There are few places that offer Vietnamese-Chinese fusion meals — specifically the vegetarian kind. That's where Veggie Delight, 3504 Wynn Road, comes in.

The restaurant is nestled in the center of Chinatown inside the Center at Spring Mountain. It can be easy to miss, as it's located near the side-end of the area.

The small eatery offers indoor and outdoor seating. The service is friendly overall, but challenges can be found in the language barrier, and it may delay the delivery of small items, such as extra napkins and straws, to your table.

The menu has a wide selection of traditional Chinese and Vietnamese vegetarian dishes. Every item can be made vegan, though be aware that prices are slightly higher.

The menu is sectioned off by the following items: appetizers ($3.99 to $6.75), noodles and soups ($7.85 to $9.50), sandwiches ($5 to $6.50), Chinese entrees ($8.75 to $11.95) and Vietnamese dishes ($4.50 to $8).

The appetizers include seaweed with a special sauce, squid with a special sauce, tofu nuggets, and crunch and spicy cucumber. The main course entrees are served with vegetables and a side of white rice.

The Sweet and Sour Pork ($10.95 for the vegan option) comes heavily dressed in sweet sauce with bell peppers, pineapple and faux pork. It has a very sweet flavor, while the sauce is very filling.

Those who crave a spicy kick can try the Spicy Sauce Chicken Dice ($10.95 for the vegan option). This entree also is drenched in a spicy sauce and comes with faux chicken, broccoli, carrots and green beans.

The drinks are just as popular as the food items. Specialty teas ($3.25 to $5.25) include milk teas, green teas and flavored teas, such as bubble, ginger and kiwi teas. Fruit slushes ($3.25 to $4.50) can be made with almond, coffee, cappuccino, mocha, mango, lychee, strawberry and green apple. Drinks can be made with or without boba pearls.

A 10 percent discount is available for active military personnel with identification and for seniors 65 or older. The mom-and-pop joint is cash only.

Veggie Delight is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day except Tuesday.
