Kulick becomes first woman to win PBA title with Red Rock victory

UPDATED: Kelly Kulick used a 15-pound bowling ball to smash a 52-year barrier when she became the first woman to win a professional PBA Tour tournament. Kulick, 32, accomplished the milestone today at Red Rock Lanes in the Tournament of Champions, one of four “major” events in the Professional Bowlers Association. … “It’s been a dream of mine to win a PBA Tour event, but I couldn’t have imagined it would come in the Tournament of Champions,” Kulick said moments after defeating Chris Barnes 265-195 in the championship game aired live on ESPN.

MacDonald Highlands offers 2 custom estates at auction

In the community of MacDonald Highlands is a hidden canyon of 14 lots. Two custom estates within the canyon, built by Rich MacDonald, developer of MacDonald Highlands, will be going up for auction March 6. The homes had been constructed to showcase the unusual canyon and the art of hillside building. All of the lots have been sold and the homes are no longer needed as a sales tool for the development.

Mountain Falls features restaurant in golf club

According to executive chef David Hutchison, business at the Mountain Falls Grill Room, located within the Mountain Falls master-planned community in Pahrump 45 miles west of Las Vegas, has grown since first opening four years ago. Hutchison said the restaurant has served thousands of diners in 2009 and he anticipates that it will bring in more business in 2010 as more people discover the Mountain Falls Golf Club.

Builders’ show held Jan. 19-22

The National Home Builders International Builders’ Show returned to Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Convention Center Jan. 19-22. The building industry trade show offered more than 175 educational sessions. The exhibit floor featured builders, remodelers, developers, dealers and distributors. In addition, there was a separate multifamily and condo area. The show also offered seminars addressing housing issues for residents 55 and older.
