Nevada Highway Patrol arrests 82 on DUI charges

Several dozen party-goers spent the night sobering up behind bars after the Nevada Highway Patrol used all available troopers to help police Las Vegas’ New Year’s celebration. … Eighty-two people were arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs — far more than the 12 arrested by state troopers last year. Another 57 were arrested on miscellaneous charges and two were arrested on felonies.

Evans edges Silva at UFC 108

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans beat Thiago Silva by unanimous decision at UFC 108 tonight, bouncing back from his only professional loss. … Evans used his superior wrestling skills to control the bout through the first two rounds, then survived the third round after nearly being knocked out by a straight right from Silva. All three judges scored the bout 29-28.
