Navy pilots disciplined for Lake Tahoe chopper dip

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — A Navy crew has been disciplined for dipping two helicopters into Lake Tahoe to take photos for the squadron’s Facebook page. The two Navy instructor pilots were permanently stripped of flying status because of the Sept. 13 incident. Both helicopters were damaged, and repairs totaled $505,000.

McCarran passenger numbers down in November

The October passenger count at McCarran International Airport showed a year-over-year gain for the first time since 2007. But in November, the visitor industry benchmark slipped into negative territory again.
