ROUNDUP: Dixon helps Centennial boys finish fifth in Illinois tournament
Aaseem Dixon registered 16 points, eight assists and seven rebounds Thursday to help Centennial’s boys basketball team to a fifth-place finish in the Elgin (Ill.) Tournament with a 68-64 win over Fremd (Ill.).
Marcus Allen added 13 points and Malcolm Allen scored 10 for Centennial. Evan Martin added eight points and eight rebounds, and Neiman Lee had five blocked shots for the Bulldogs.
Lone Peak (Utah) 75, Eldorado 49 — At St. George, Utah, Nick Emery poured in 20 points in the first quarter and finished with 33 points and 10 rebounds as the Vikings routed the Sundevils in the championship game of the Dixie Great 8 Tournament.
Curtis Stewart scored nine points for Eldorado, which trailed 47-19 at the half.
Cheyenne 56, Pine View (Utah) 53 — At St. George, Utah, Khalid Banks drained five 3-pointers and finished with 25 points as the Desert Shields nipped Pine View in the Dixie Great 8 Tournament.
Jamieoun Coleman added 10 points for Cheyenne, which took a 42-35 lead into the fourth quarter and held on for the win.
