Daily highs around 110 and morning lows near 85 are forecast by the Las Vegas office of the National Weather Service from Saturday through Thursday.
Las Vegas Weather
The World Weather Attribution study included Las Vegas and Phoenix, both having their warmest Junes in recorded weather history.
This year’s summer solstice is a day earlier than normal, and is the earliest in 228 years.
For those enjoying Juneteenth, the high should be close to seasonable near 101 with wind gusts to 21 mph.
Air quality is expected to be in the moderate category or perhaps a bit worse Monday as smoke from wildfires continues to drift into the Las Vegas Valley.
Most of the Las Vegas Valley saw light-to-moderate showers Sunday. There are chances for “another round of showers” and even snow flurries Monday morning, the National Weather Service said.
Saturday’s high temperature set a record at 74 degrees, eclipsing the old mark for Jan. 31, set in 2014, by a single degree. “It’s not terribly unusual to have a warm day in January,” National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Outler said. “However, it is warmer than normal.”
Warm weather will give way to rain and cooler temperatures this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Las Vegans should plan for an array of weather from warm and sunny to rainy and windy this weekend.
The next chance for rain in the valley will come Sunday night. Until then, Las Vegas can expect to see calm, sunny, warm weather.
The warmest day of 2016 will be Thursday, then Friday, then Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. But you have until Sunday to enjoy the spring preview, because that’s when a major storm system will creep into the valley and cause temperatures to nosedive.
The last week of January will have clear skies, calm winds and warm temperatures, but the final day of the month could bring showers, the National Weather Service said.
In Washington, truckloads of snow came rumbling into the parking lot of RFK Stadium, where city officials said they planned to bring a machine that can melt 60 tons of snow an hour.
Residents of New Jersey’s southern shorefront towns on Monday cleaned up homes and businesses flooded by a storm surge during the weekend’s massive blizzard and rued what they described as Governor Chris Christie’s dismissive treatment of the damage.
Washington will need several more days to return to normal after a weekend blizzard dropped more than 2 feet (60 cm) of snow along the U.S. East Coast, likely causing billions of dollars in damage and killing more than 30.
